You are what I consider to be a spiritual person. Are you surprised? If you are, don’t be.
This right here is what defines the major attributes of what being spiritual means. Loving yourself, caring for others and the animals on the planet. Also, there can be a deeper understanding either needed or present; personal development.
Personal development involves growing and changing. As people mature, they develop a value system of their own.
There is a sense of knowing that oneness exist and attempts to honor that. Allowing kindness to be your guiding light towards yourself, others and animals. So, now lets discover your spiritual side.
But is there a difference between Spirituality and Religion?
There is a difference between spirituality and religion. Most often, there is confusion of between the two. People can be both religious and spiritual, but it is also possible to be religious without being spiritual, or just to be spiritual without being religious.
Spirituality gives the individual autonomy over his or her interpretations of the soul or spirit, whereas religion implies participation in a communal practice and interpretation of the divine belief and worship.
If you are seeking to understand more of the differences between religion and spirituality, I would first recommend looking within your own heart. If your spiritual or religious practice uplifts you, brings you comfort, peace, and helps you find more love and to be a better person, then you are receiving the benefits the higher source and the healing presence of it.
What can spirituality bring to your life?
You may be asking what exactly spirituality can do for you. Below, you will find a list to help give you an idea of why you would want to develop a spiritual life:

Before you dive in
There are many ways you can open yourself to your spiritual side, and there are a few things I want to make mention to consider as you prepare for your journey.
Some people have a spiritual awakening where they come to a sudden realization about their spirituality.
Also, a spiritual awakening can be a gradual process, so be gentle with yourself because it doesn’t happen all at once. This can be a life long journey! And through this, there is no right or wrong ways to discover spirituality or how to live a spiritual life.
Spirituality can be sought through organized religion but doesn’t have to be.
But in the end
Remember, this is personal, and your spirituality is whatever you believe it to be.
How do I discover my spiritual side?
Discovering your spirituality is discovering what you believe in, and no one can tell what you believe in because that is your own truth. Always stand in your truth. This is where the fun comes in! Because you can begin by discovering what you already believe.
I cannot stress enough the importance of knowing your values, if you haven’t already or need some guidance check out Oath to Self.
First you want to make a list of your values and write down everything you believe to be important in life.
Then, write down what you believe is right and wrong behavior.
Next, think about who you look up to and what they believe.
Finally, think about the times in your life when you have struggled. We often discover what we believe we are going through tough times.
Learn about other people’s beliefs
Though spirituality is personal, one to way to begin is to also look at what other people believe. By discovering what others believe is something that can sit right with you.
When discovering about other people’s beliefs, this can look in many ways whether that may be: Learning about organized religion beliefs and customs, research online, reading books about spirituality, taking a class, attending a service, watching documentaries, etc.
Some people choose to have a higher power source in their life, meaning, anything greater than yourself.
Some may meditate, try acupuncture, Reiki, herbalism, homeopathy, or even aromatherapy.
Working on a being a good person, and what that looks like for you according to your own values and beliefs.
While doing this, you can ask yourself, “Does this feel light ? Or Does this feel heavy? “ When you find yourself feeling something as light, it is right for you. If something feels heavy, then, you have the power to choose again.
Learning and expanding your knowledge will lead you to which direction to go in. Because the goal is to become your ideal self and living a purposeful life where you can feel inner peace.
It’s important to know what is important to you, what you believe in, and what spirituality means to you. If haven’t already, start with writing all your thoughts and ideas down. Most of the time, it is easier to gain insight when we write things down because it can help us process as we see it on paper.

This process can take a very long time, and these suggestions are merely inspiration for your next curiosity! You have your whole life to discover your spiritual side and solidify your beliefs.
